Rescue is faster when you use the USCG Float Plan

Whether you are a power boater or kayaker, the USCG Float Plan works for you.  Set up a basic plan ahead of time and save it on you computer. Update it when you decide where and when you're going to go. Then, e-mail your completed plan to whoever you choose to follow up should you not return or check-in as planned.

OpenCPN Chart Plotter Navigation Tool for the OBX

OpenCPN is a versatile open-source software designed for marine navigation. It

functions as a chart plotter, supporting various chart formats. Users can plan routes, set

waypoints, integrate AIS for vessel information, interface with GPS devices, and even

overlay weather data. This is a great PC based tool to learn about the waters around

the Outer Banks and plan on the water activities.

Anything created in OpenCPN can be downloaded and updated directly to chartplotters

on your vessel if equipped.
